Superpowers Music Academy offers guitar lessons for children with the Suzuki Guitar method. While playing on a classical guitar, kids as young as age 4 can learn step-by-step how to hold an instrument, how to hear music, what their hands and fingers can do on the strings, and all with a positive and enthusiastic approach.
A major aspect of the Suzuki Guitar method is learning by ear, listening to and getting to know a piece of music before we actually play. This way, all of the skills the student learns will have a practical, familiar use as they learn to play. Reading music is introduced early on, but just not at the beginning of playing. It’s similar to how children learn language — by hearing, and then reproducing the sound!
The Suzuki Music method placed the emphasis on learning by listening, and the belief that every child (and adult) can learn sublimely when provided a positive and encouraging environment. Whether the student stays with classical guitar or moves into pop and rock music, the method will stay with them!
Our Suzuki Method lesson are taught by our instructor Bob Boulding. Bob has completed Suzuki teacher training in Guitar Units 1 and 2, and the Book 1 Booster course. In addition to an active membership with the Suzuki Association of the Americas, he is a member of the Suzuki Music Association of California — LA Chapters.
